DAY-CARE CENTERS
ARE
"MICRO-ENVIRONMENTS" THAT PRODUCE
ANTIBIOTIC- RESISTANT BACTERIA.

According to Dr. Ron Dagan of Ben-Gurion University in Beer-Shiva, Israel, and his colleagues, a study indicates that the dramatic increase in the number of day-care centers over the last two to three decades in developed nations has apparently brought an increase in the variety of antibiotic strains of bacteria that are evolving. This data was announced at Global Resistance Day organized by the American Society for Microbiology and other infectious disease groups. The finding has obvious ramifications for microbial remediation specialists.
After collecting samples of Streptococcus pneumoniae from youngsters at eight day-care centers during the two-year study, Dagan and his colleagues found that treatment with antibiotics rapidly produced antibiotic-resistant traits among the bacteria from the children's noses and throats.
Dagan told the Global Resistance conference that day-care center "microenvironments facilitate and promote selection, spread, and transmission of antibiotic-resistant respiratory tract organisms and should be major targets for intervention." Preschoolers typically have high rates of respiratory infection and receive high rates of treatment with antibiotics, which tends to speed up the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria within day-care environments. The researchers found that the resistant bacterial strains within a given day-care environment were similar, but that they varied considerably from resistant strains at the other day-care centers. This is what indicates that each center is its own bacterial-evolution environment. In point of fact, when the researchers took mucus samples from the siblings of youngsters at a given center, they found the same resistant strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae, indicating that the resistant strains easily spread beyond each micro-environment.

"MRSA - The Frightening Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria That Doctors, Nurses, and Even Hospital Janitors Know All Too Well (But Don't Want to "Alarm the Public About") That Can Turn a Simple Cut or Scratch into an Ambulance Ride… And Put Your Child's Future on Life Support!"
Staph is a common form of bacteria that lives on almost one third of the people on earth. Most of the time it’s completely harmless. It is a common cause of pimples, boils and other skin problems.
In hospitals and other medical facilities, staph can lead to serious infections of the bloodstream and the urinary tract, pneumonia, endocarditis, meningitis, toxic shock syndrome, and even death.
Over half a million hospital patients contract serious staph infections every year in this country. It’s one of the biggest health risks of going to a hospital.
MRSA is different—it is a strain of staph that has become resistant to most antibiotics.
According to the CDC, most cases of MRSA aren't serious. But MRSA often leads to severe illness and can result in amputations. It can even be fatal.
If the threat from MRSA was limited to hospitals it would be bad enough.
But it is now running rampant in the last place we would ever want to find it...

Are you prepared to protect your child?
At Heiss-Co LLC we are trained and certified in the application of safe Eco-friendly Biocides, Disinfectants, and Anti-Microbials.
Our surface Protestants keep on working after applied and need only be reapplied to high touch point areas as part of a
bi-annual routine sanitization protocol.
We also believe strongly in the best air filtration and purification being installed directly on your schools HVAC systems. The germs that are spread do so by flowing freely from room to room through the HVAC system. We stop that them dead in their tracks with MERV 16 rated filtration coupled with our activTek in duct purification systems.

vary in size and not all
applications call for the same equipment.
We custom design systems according to our clients needs.
